Contractors Team began this project by detailing and stripping back all non-original features. The mezzanine was rebuilt within the retained shell structure in order to improve weight bearing, in turn enhancing the light and spatial quality. Our design celebrates the original features, including sash windows, glazed rose bricks and cornicing.
The flats formed a single structure above ground floor commercial units, so it was a challenge to complete the rebuild without affecting the businesses underneath. We conducted weeks of planning prior to starting the job, with our surveyors, engineers and builders collaborating to create a plan to renovate the complete structure without disrupting commerce below.
On the exterior, we employed specialised scaffolding to allow the businesses to trade and we provided access through the rear side, curating works from a single point. The interiors were completely stripped out, with contemporary kitchens and flexible dining rooms being installed, along with space saving wardrobes to offer a more open aesthetic.
Installed in each fully refurbished flat were new bathrooms and flooring, in addition to new electrics, plumbing and interior decorating. Our talented team was able to meet its objectives on time, on budget and provide a final result that cemented our reputation as one of the leading building and design companies in London.
