Conversions

The purpose of conversions is to change the functionality of a property, which can be applied to any area within a home. A variety of different types of conversion can be used by growing families needing more space or to add an extra bedroom, a home office or gym to a property.

At Contractors Team, we have an array of expertise at our disposal, with experienced structural engineers, architectural designers, design consultants and off-course builders. After meeting with our design & build team to discuss their requirements, our clients are able to see how the completed project will look.

Loft Conversion

Loft conversions are only possible when certain conditions are met. First of all, the existing loft needs to be sufficiently strong to meet the building regulation standards and a Fire Exit needs to be incorporated into the plan.

Also, the loft stairway needs to be designed securely, with sound cancellation in place between the loft and the rooms below.
  • Roof Window Extension - Adding extra windows or changing the style or size of the existing windows without the roof’s natural shape being affected.
  • Dormer Extension - A roof extension involving the installation of a large vertical window on one side to create more head space in your attic.
  • Hip to Gable Loft Conversion - An innovative option designed to add more space to small attics by subtly changing the sides and vertical walls.
  • Hipped Loft Conversion - Simply put, this conversion reduces the roof’s slope in order to create more attic space and headroom.
  • Gambrel Conversion - This conversion features a slight slope on one side of the roof, with a full slope on the other, giving the attic a uniquely spacious appearance.

Basement conversions

Basement conversions represent another attractive option for an area that’s typically only used for storage. Modern homeowners believe in making use of every square inch of their property, with basements often being converted into home theatres, extra bedrooms, family gyms and even recording studios.

Basements can also be converted to extend a home’s living space, although typically a house’s foundations can limit headroom. In order to counter this, excavation is carried on the floor beneath to create a habitable living space.
